We missed winter, so we went out looking. And we found it, in a brief but lucky combination of fresh snow and relatively mild nights. Yet winter cares not for the romance of adventure, and our foray into the cold was not without challenge. Still, as I neared sleep one night with toes that refused to thaw,
I thought that one day, when we live a life in which survival has less urgency, as perhaps it should, I hope I will remember the sound of snowflakes falling on a tent, not unlike rain but with a soft peace all its own.
I can’t help but smile every time I see this photo I took of my bright and beautiful friend @laurenmagrisso on her boyfriend’s farm last Fall. We picked flowers, sat around a campfire, and enjoyed being surrounded by such beauty. I also learned on this trip that marigolds are edible! And while most people use them for jams or sprinkled in salads, I couldn’t stop eating them straight until I had to cut myself off 🙈
