Travel fun fact! Europe’s highest mountain is actually in the French Alps – Mont Blanc, at 4,810m, takes an arduous 10 to 12 hours to climb to the summit. Alternatively, you can take a leisurely 20-minute trip up on Europe’s highest cable car on the nearby Aiguille du Midi to get a stellar view of Mont Blanc. My favorite place to view it is from Chamonix (one of my fave places in Europe!!) We didn’t hike there or see Mont Blanc this time but rather hiked the Pope’s Blessing trail in Sospel -a little under an hour north of Nice by train. This is located in the Mercantour National Park, part of the Maritime Section of the French Alps (the larger section is officially called the “Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur” ➡️ Provence and Azure Coast Alps. So lovely! It’s not all beaches and big cities in France 😉
